The Case for the Defence

I was happy to get notification from you, it's been quite a while. How right? I guess I am also as could be normal. It's been a flat out bad dream. I despite everything recall everything as distinctively as though was yesterday. Helpless Mrs Parker, such a stunning lady. I had got up in light of the fact that I thought I had heard the entryway, you know me, the smallest commotion I'm wakeful, so I went to the window to check. I don't have the foggiest idea what made me glance over to Mrs Parker's front entryway, yet when I did, I saw him! He was simply remaining there, as though he had been visiting her. I saw he was wearing gloves and that he was holding something that resembled a sledge, which he tossed into the shrubs of Mrs Parker's nursery. He had begun down the way towards the road when he just out of nowhere halted, he more likely than not detected me watching him and our own eyes met. I could see he got anxious and the dread jerk into those ghostly protruding eyes and afterward he was no more. I was frozen, really anxious about helpless old Mrs Parker so I called the police. The police showed up in minutes, followed quickly by an emergency vehicle. I watched them go into the house over the road and two cops leave a couple of moments later. They were advancing over to my home. They requested that I say something about what I had seen, as it was a homicide request: Mrs Parkers head had been crushed with a sledge. There were journalists everywhere throughout the road. They thumped, requested my announcement, how might they be so coldblooded? Helpless Mrs Parkers body was not even virus. I despite everything can barely handle it. How might anybody do that to a helpless elderly person that would not hurt a fly? Obviously, you realize they got him. I needed to proceed to recognize him in a police march and as I viewed through the reflected glass, there was no mixing up the executioner. Maybe time had rewound and I was watching him through the window once more. His face was one I could always remember, his eyes resembled pools of malice and he really remained there grinning. I could barely handle it. I felt wiped out to my stomach! They disclosed to me his name was Adams and that I was by all account not the only observer, there were others that had distinguished him and I guess that caused me to feel somewhat better. At that point obviously there was the legal dispute where I needed to give proof, I am certain you found out about it. I was so anxious strolling into the court, yet when I saw Adams, I realized that it must be finished. He was unable to be permitted to pull off it and he had the right to be rebuffed for his activities. I was set up for an interrogation, the cop had cautioned me this was the training in cases like these, yet he guaranteed me that the observer explanations were evidence enough. I responded to the protection's inquiries as truly, and just as I could, and afterward he inquired as to whether the man I saw was the litigant. What did he need me to state? Obviously I said yes. Nothing could have set me up for what occurred straightaway! He requested that Mr Adams stand, gradually the acknowledgment hit me, the litigants accurate twofold was remaining at the rear of the court. I was floored! He was in any event, wearing a similar garments! The insight began asking me inquiries, however I was numb with stun, he needed to rehash himself noisily until I at long last recognized what he had stated, might I be able to in any case swear that the man I had seen was the detainee. How might I be able to! They were indistinguishable, directly down to those abhorrence swelling eyes, I was unable to separate between them while they were in a similar room, quit worrying about that night. Everything I could do was shake my head and marvel about Mrs Parker. Why had he executed her? Is it safe to say that he would pull off it? Had she kicked the bucket to no end? At that point I saw that they were both gazing at me, those eyes chilled me deep down. How might anyone be rebuffed now, different observers couldn't differentiate either. How might they convict somebody with no proof? The two men had vindications, they were at home with their spouses, so obviously, the case was tossed out of court. Outside the press resembled vultures, pushing and pushing, all attempting to be the first to get the real issue. They had been following the story for a considerable length of time and now needed to know each shocking point of interest. For reasons unknown the Adams siblings chose to leave the front entryways straight into the press. You could see the smug smiles on their faces, they needed the entire world to realize that the case had been cleared. The press were having a field day, you were unable to get away from the journalists, the street was inundated with them. The police had attempted to move them along, however I found later, that they had just figured out how to clear the street. Everyone was pushing and driving their route nearer to the two men, and afterward it occurred, the siblings were driven into the street and unexpectedly came a transport. I recall the clamor he made, it was to a greater degree a screech than a shout, however it appeared to make time stop. It was a dreadful picture, lying in the street was a man that could have been liable for homicide, wearing indistinguishable wounds from helpless Mrs Parker. As I lifted my look away from the body, I saw his distressed sibling taking a gander at me, as though it was my issue and I felt so scared. Was it a blameless man that had kicked the bucket under that transport? Was it Mrs Parkers killer? He knew what my identity was and he knew where I lived. Would he need vengeance for the passing of his sibling? I realized that I wasn't the main onlooker for the situation, however just my proof had been heard and I was frozen. Which is the reason I simply needed to move. I was unable to rest or eat and regardless of what number of security locks were fitted I meandered around anxiously, even terrified of the shadows outside. I just couldn't live like that any longer. I despite everything have such huge numbers of inquiries concerning Mrs Parkers passing, however for now I need to avoid Peckham. I simply don't have a sense of security there.

My Results And Observations From The Four Career Profile

This assignment asks me to summarize my results and observations from the four career profile activities. Those four career profile activities are Interests, Personalities,Values, and Skills. All four of these topics help define who you are, what you are good at, and what actions you will take. For the first career profile activity, Interest, I will be talking about my results from my three letter code(RIASEC) and my SDS(Self-Directed Search) assessment. For the second career profile activity, Personalities, I will be talking about my results from my preliminary MBTI mini(Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) code, my â€Å"functional pair† in my preliminary MBTI, and information about the characteristics of my MBTI. For the third career profile†¦show more content†¦The personalities in RIASEC stand for R- Realistic, I- Investigative, A- Artistic, S- Social, E- Enterprising, and C- Conventional. Once taking this assessment it is real easy to narrow down your search for career paths that you would potentially interested in. The Myers-Briggs mini is another assessment that I took. In this assessment, there are four sections. Extroverts vs Introverts, Sensing Types vs Intuitive Types, Thinking Types vs Feeling Types, and Judging Types vs Perceptive Types. None of these choices are the right or wrong answers. It’s just a self-eval. On this assessment, there are the two choices, one on the left side and one on the right side. Underneath them, both are examples of preferences in their certain category. Then between these two choices is a line with a midpoint. On this line, the user has to rate himself/herself on where they think they are. More towards the left side or the right side? On my Myers-Briggs, I got an ISFJ personality. This means my functional pair is SF. The functional pair is always in the middle. Some examples of functional pairs are ST, SF, NF, and NT. This assessment, in my opinion, also really helps you find out more about yourself. Per haps even something you didn t even know about you. For example according to Otto Kroeger, my personality is committed to getting the job done. I am conscientious, loyal, dedicated, and work well when roles and

Reading Gandhi- Delhi University - 3075 Words

Introduction Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi has attained an iconic status in the world and in history is undisputable. About a hundred volumes of his collected works have been published by the Government of India, more than three thousand five hundred books have been written on Gandhi, and his symbols and words continue to inspire and encourage. As we celebrate a hundred years of his acknowledged magnum opus Hind Swaraj, it is time to reflect on the importance of both the text and the context of this renowned work. Hind Swaraj is a seminal and a foundational work, and it is widely seen as the bible of non-violent revolutions as well as providing the blue print of all kinds of revolutions. Though Gandhi wrote extensively, Hind†¦show more content†¦Now, the eminent historian Quentin Skinner is of the view that classics are time bound, and that we should read them keeping in mind that they address specific historical needs. Skinner has been associated with a group of philosophers who have had a shared link with Cambridge and are known as the Cambridge school. They chose not to emphasise a particular text, but to focus on the intellectual political and ideological contexts within which these texts were written, and the languages that both shaped the context of their writing, as well as those that were shaped by these contexts. On the other hand, the textual approach adopted by the political theorist Terence Ball is concerned with reading a theory out of the text, and reconstructing it for our purpose. The autonomy of the text, holds Ball, is the necessary key to its meaning. The idea of reading a classic is to recover timeless elements or dateless wisdom that has universal application and continuing relevance. Broadly speaking an emphasis on the social context cancels out timelessness, and the textual approach emphasizes texts that answer questions which are timeless, universal, and transhistorical. There is however another way of reading a text. Music and Movement Essay Paper Example For Students

Music and Movement Essay Paper What are some of the benefits of using outdoor space in early childhood? Using outdoor space in early childhood provide children with health, cognitive, and social benefits. Health benefits: It gives children the opportunity to exercise their large muscles group much more than when they are indoors, because they have more space to run, skip, climb, swing, and Jump. Playing outside also allow children to burn more calories than when they are inside. Cognitive benefits: When children play outside they often will make up their own games, by doing this they are exercising heir problem solving skills. When children make the rules for the games and practice using them with friends, they are developing organizational abilities, and leadership qualities. Their creativity is enhanced and their imaginations are nourished. Social benefits: being outside promotes cooperative play which leads to the development of social skills. When children wait to take turns while playing a game, or when they work together with others to build something, these are ways children can enhance their social abilities outdoors. . Describe the role of the teacher in supporting outdoor space, including children with special needs. The teacher can be supportive by interacting with the children when they are outside, the teacher can do this by talking with the children about what and how they are going to play. The teacher can assist the children in different activities, for example: hopping, skipping, and climbing, and the teacher can also make sure that the children are safe while playing outdoors. The teacher must also plan activities hat encourage children with special needs to participate while outdoors, but he/she should not use the same activities when they are outdoors with the special needs children. Creating different activities will provide the children with special needs the opportunity to use their bodies in new ways. 3. What problems can there be with static playground equipment and their traditional uses? Static playground equipment doesnt stimulate childrens physical, cognitive, or creative development. Children need to experience new physical challenges; static laggardly equipment wont allow the children to use the equipment in a new way because it doesnt change. Static playground equipment can make children feel limited in their play. 4. Describe three ways teachers can use traditional equipment in creative ways. Then create one idea of your own for using traditional equipment in a creative way. Teachers can use traditional equipment to engage children in group activities, by doing this he/she can enhance the childrens social skills. The teacher can play a name like follow the leader; he/she can walk around the swing, slide, Jungle gym, and sand box while playing the game. Teachers can use the monkey bars to have the children pretend they are monkeys swinging and climbing their way through the jungle. While the children is doing the activity, the teacher can ask the children questions to challenge them, for example: how fast can you climb through the Jungle, or how far do you think you can swing, Teachers can create a obstacle course using the traditional equipment, teachers can challenge the children to crawl through tires, limb over the monkey bars, swing on a swing, or try to balance themselves steady Music and Movement By redelivering while traveling through the obstacle course. An activity I would do with the children in my class while outdoors, that involves using traditional equipment, would be to have the children pretend that they was at a water park. I would have the children to slide down the slide on the playground pretending that they are about to slide down into a pool. References: www. Oho. The Promise Plot Essays - The Promise, Reuben, American Literature

The Promise: Plot Title of Book: The Promise Author of Book: Chaim Potok 1.In 10-12 sentences, write a brief outline of the plot of the novel. Be sure to make clear the major conflict of the story. 1.In the beginning of the novel, the main character, Reuben, is spending some time with his father at their cottage. His friend, Rachel is also vacationing nearby. Reuben finds out that Rachel's 14 year old cousin, Michael, is mentally ill, and Reuben seems to be the only person Michael will talk to. Near the end of the summer, Reuben's best friend Danny comes to visit Reuben and the Gordons (Rachel's family) invite Danny over to discuss Michael because Danny is a genius, and he is studying psychology. At the summer's end, Michael is put into the treatment centre at which Danny is working. Reuben becomes friends with Michael's father, Abraham Gordon, a very respected scholar. Unfortunately, his ideas are not approved by Reuben's professor, Rav Kalman. Rav Kalman tells Reuben that if he continues to see Abraham and Michael Gordon, he will not be given his smicha, the degree which he has been working to get for so long. Also, Michael does not respond well to the treatment centre, and bec omes violent. Danny decides to use an experimental treatment on Michael, which involves not letting him talk to anyone or interact with anything except his therapist. The major conflict is when Michael becomes catatonic, and it seems as if Reuben will not get his smicha and Michael will never be cured. Danny decides to have a long conversation with Rav Kalman, and convinces him to at least give Reuben the smicha examination. During the examination, Reuben uses a method called test emendation, which is strictly forbidden by his school. Reuben backs up his arguments so well, that Rav Kalman does give him smicha, and when Reuben tells this to Michael (although Michael is in a comatose state) Michael awakes and tells Reuben, Danny and his parents that he hates his father because when his father writes a book, all the people who disagree with his ideas write hateful articles, and excommunicate the Gordon family. 2.What is the setting of the novel? 2.The novel is set in Willamsburg, Brooklyn, in the 1950's. 3.In one sentence, state the climax of the novel. Explain how it solves the conflict. 3.The climax of this novel is when Reuben receives his smicha because it solves the problem of Reuben not getting his smicha, and when Reuben tells Michael that he received smicha, Michael wakes up and tells Reuben and Danny everything. 4.Name 2 important character traits of a major character in the novel. Then give 2 examples from the story demonstrating each trait. 4.The character I am examining is Danny Saunders. The first character trait is that Danny was very trustworthy. Example 1: " `I trust him....I needed someone I could trust....someone I could trust absolutely and without the slightest reservation. I trust Daniel Saunders.' " pg. 244 Example 2: My second example is that Dr. Altman, Danny's supervisor at the treatment centre, trusted Danny enough to let him go ahead with the experiment on Michael. The second character trait is intensity. Example 1: " He was unshaven and his eyes blinked repeatedly and he looked as though he had not slept in a long time...`Went back?' I stared at him. `You weren't home for Shabbat?'...`I've been at the treatment centre since three in the morning.'" pg.256 Example 2: " Danny was playing volleyball the way he had once played baseball, with an intense, hungry eagerness to win." pg.380 5.Circle one of the following categories below to describe how you would rate the book. Making reference to the novel's subject matter, language, character development and other elements, explain why you rated the book as you did. 5.I would rate the book as very interesting. I would rate it in this way becuase, first, I could indentify with the subject. I knew most of the Hebrew or Yiddish terms before the author translated them, and although it did not apply directly to me, I could see paralels between the novel and my own life. The language in the novel was well choosen, at an in-between level, not too hard to understand, but very well written. Some of the metaphores used in the book were so brilliant, I would have rather done a full novel study of this book, because I know I must have missed so much of the depth of the novel.

abortion4 essays Abortion, one of the most controversial issues debated today, can easily be broken down into two distinct viewpoints: those who support abortion and those opposed to abortion. Pro-life and Pro-choice viewpoints are at the complete opposites of the spectrum and argue every issue from murder to morals and values to violence. In the two articles about abortion, "Abortion Is a Selfish choice," and "Abortion Is Not A Selfish Choice," each side argues their case and justifies their position. The first article "Abortion Is a Selfish Choice," acknowledges that those who choose abortion are acting in their own self-interest while the opposing article, "Abortion Is Not a Selfish Choice," argues that the fundamental issue in the abortion debate is the right of women to make their own decisions about reproduction. Both viewpoints provide reasons to question ones own strongly held opinions. According to the authors of Opposing Viewpoints, "Careful examinations of others views can lead to t he readers understanding of the logical inconsistencies in their own opinions, perspectives on why they hold an opinion, and the consideration of the possibility that their opinion requires further evaluation" (Bender and Leone, 11). Both articles provide extensive examinations over selfishness and abortion and from my own experiences with abortion I believe it is a selfish choice. In the first article, "Abortion Is a Selfish Choice," Mother Teresa argues the position that those who choose abortion are making a selfish choice. Mother Teresa states that "Abortion destroys ones ability to love because people who choose abortion do so to avoid the hurt that unselfish love of their children would require" (48). In the article, there are three key points that Mother Teresa stresses. First, she acknowledges "Breaking the Peace," then "Abortion Leads to Violence," and finally "Adoption, Not Abortion." In these three subtopics, ...

REGLECTION PERCEPTION KEYS - Assignment Example This is so because, the ‘must see’ impressive structure representing the building, is an art in itself. It largely display the artistic ways of the master brains behind the building. 3. Elevators take us to the top of the building, and then we can participate with the exhibited works of art by walking down the spiraling ramp. This enables us to see each work from many perspectives. Does this seem to you to be an interesting, efficient, and comfortable way of exhibiting works of art? Yes, this does seem to me as an interesting, efficient and comfortable way of exhibiting works of art. This is so because; the building in itself is enormous. So, it is advisable for one to start from the top going to the bottom as is an assured way out of the building. This will save one lots of energy and hence wont tire earlier hence will have a better view of the exhibitions. As we all know, it is easier to go down a hill that climbing it. 4. The front of the museum faces Fifth Avenue. The surrounding buildings are tall rectangular structures evenly lined up along the sidewalks. If possible, visit the site. Did Wright succeed in bringing his museum into a harmonious spatial relationship with these other buildings? Or was his purpose perhaps to make his museum stand out in sharp contrast, like a plant among inorganic shapes? But if so, does the museum fit successfully into the spatial context – â€Å"the power and embrace of the positioned interrelationships of things†? The major aim of Wright erecting his building next to ordinary looking buildings was to make his museum stand out in spiky contrast. This was to make it more eye catching like a rose among daffodils. The museum fits successfully into the spatial context this is so because, it made it look so unique hence bringing out its popularity (Martin & Jacobus, 2011). I don’t think that a park site would have been a better site for the building compared to

Provide an account of a particular community group or community Issue Essay

Provide an account of a particular community group or community Issue using concepts drawn from sociology and social polict - Essay Example The Pennine Housing 2000 association is a statutory group that has been the social landlord in Calderdale since 2001; voted in by tenants to own and manage the Council's rented housing units, dealing with all aspects of the Council community and housing (Pennine Housing). The Pennine Housing staff is dedicated to ensuring a positive experience for their tenants, even when this means dealing with conflict between neighbours and complaints about certain tenants. This organisation is responsible for the assessment of community crime as well as the administration of justice for all parties involved. The Anti Social Behaviour Team was set up as a vital part of the Pennine Housing 2000 organisation specifically to deal with community disturbances that involved people whose actions can be classified as anti social; in other words, people who have trouble integrating into the community in a positive way. Anti social behaviour spans from disturbing neighbours with loud music to allowing your children to run around the community unsupervised; many different actions are covered under the umbrella of the Anti Social Behaviour Team. The Team vows firm action against any people who "choose to make their neighbours lives a misery" (Pennine Housing 2000 website). Social exclusio... This alienation can affect virtually all aspects of life, including income, employment, social standing and the availability of other opportunities (Pierson, 2002, 26). Although it is the aim of the Pennine Housing 2000 organisation to eliminate any kind of social exclusion from their jurisdiction, the stigma of Council housing perseveres and often leads to a feeling of national exclusion on the part of the tenants. The West Yorkshire Police Force is working together with Pennine Housing to address anti social behaviour and youth crimes; the Police Force recognises the fact that it cannot give the matter the full attention it requires due to other responsibilities; Pennine Housing is therefore essentially keeping track of anti social trends in troubled council neighbourhoods and is responsible for offering effective solutions to the crime problems in West Yorkshire. Due to Pennine Housing recommendations, the West Yorkshire Police are sending letters to the parents of children who engage in anti social activities, patrolling extra hours and arresting more youths for crimes that have been overlooked in the past (West Yorkshire Police online). Community Groups, Statutory Groups and Effects on Policing A Guardian article suggests that the key to defeating crime in certain neighbourhoods, such as Council housing estates, is to promote social cohesion (Reiner 2004). Social cohesion - what happens when a community is close, bonded and working together for common goals and a better future for subsequent generations (Barchas and Mendoza, 1984, pp.3-4) - is something that other Yorkshire groups are working towards as well as Pennine Housing. The Children and Young People's Partnership is dedicated to the prevention of anti social behaviour and crime in young

Betting Shop computer investigation Essay Example for Free

Betting Shop computer investigation Essay The task given to me for the following essay was: Assume you have been called in to investigate suspected incidences of computer crime enacted through the computer system at a local betting office. Describe how you would conduct the search and seizure operation. Also explain why you would conduct the operation in the manner you describe. Keywords: Electronic, Evidence, Investigation, Computers, Seizure, Forensic, Computing Introduction I was recently given the task of Head of Forensic Computing Investigation into Operation Gamble. Operation Gamble had been in place for over 12 weeks, in this time it had become obvious that there was every possibility that some kind of computer crimes were being committed on a everyday basis. This job entails making sure that nothing is overlooked, that everything is done in a methodical manner, everything needs logging in one way or another. There are many things to think about , and many that need acting upon, decisions often need to be made on site at the time of the search. Hopefully this essay will inform the reader of a little knowledge into the world of forensic computing investigation. Also that it will become clear that the successful prosecution of offenders means that the investigation must be done thoroughly from start to finish. ACPO state there are 4 principles that should be adhered to at all times, so when reading this must be took into consideration. The four principles are as follows:- Principle 1: No action taken by law enforcement agencies or their agents should change data held on a computer or storage media which may subsequently be relied upon in court. Principle 2: In exceptional circumstances, where a person finds it necessary to access original data held on a computer or on storage media, that person must be competent to do so and be able to give evidence explaining the relevance and the implications of their actions. Principle 3: An audit trail or other record of all processes applied to computer based electronic evidence should be created and preserved. An independent third party should be able to examine those processes and achieve the same result. Principle 4: The person in charge of the investigation (the case officer) has overall responsibility for ensuring that the law and these principles are adhered to. Ruth Suttons investigation into a local betting shop. Firstly I was called into the office and was allocated a new case, which involved investigating a betting shop that may have been involved in some kind of fraud or computer misuse. I wasnt given any information in detail. Without having much detailed information I have to prepare the investigation as though I am looking for every kind of electronic crime there is. With an open mind it makes the investigation much more through and lengthy, maybe turning up more clues to what has been occurring in this particular establishment. Also as I have been put in charge of this investigation I make sure that all staff that had been drafted in to help with this investigation had the expertise to do so, they all needed to be aware how volatile forensic data is, how easily evidence can be lost, changed, or altered and therefore inadmissible in court. If I were to be given this case and was previously made aware that it was child pornography that I was looking for this would set my mind thinking, and turning into the direction of looking for not only images but perhaps photography equipment, chat logs, email, internet usage logs. On the other hand it is a much different case for fraud. Accounting would be looked into address books, credit card data, calendars, credit card skimmers, the list just goes on and on. Having no idea could turn up more things as child porn can often be attached to a ring, perhaps in that ring credit card fraud is being used to purchase entry to child porn sights, so with my open mind and that of my colleagues I start my investigation. Within the ACPO (Association Of Chief Police Officers) guidelines there are 4 stages that are involved in gaining forensic evidence. They are: 1. Acquiring the evidence 2. Identifying the evidence 3. Evaluating any evidence found 4. Presenting the evidence. For the purposes of my investigation in fact all forensic computing investigations, the first 3 rules are paramount as they all rely upon each other being performed correctly. Although it must be said if any of the rules are not followed correctly this wouldnt even get as far as the presenting Evidence rule, as there could be no successful prosecution. Preparation Knowing this is a retail betting shop, the first decision to be made is the time that we will serve our warrant to search the premises. After not much deliberation it is decided to carry out the search before opening time, I was aware that the manager opened up every morning at 8am so meeting him as he opened up would be the best policy. The reason for this decision is that with less staff and no customers there would be less chance of anyone being able to tamper with any networks, data, or any other relevant evidence. In the past it has been known for one member of staff to distract an investigator, while another removes vital evidence. As time went on 3 other members of staff arrived for work, they were all taken aside and asked details of what there job involved, where there individual workstation was and any usernames, passwords or encryption keys that may be relevant to the case. On Entry On entry it was most important to visually identify anything that could be possible evidence. The following items were identified and noted down: 1. Computer 2. Laptop 3. Usb stick 4. Digital camera 5. Printer 6. Scanner 7. Mobile Phones 8. Cds Dvds 9. PDA All these items could be relevant in gaining evidence as they all may contain relevant data. My reasons for each item were as follows: 1. Computer This is obvious that looking for forensic data the desktop computer could hold lots of evidence. 2. Laptop Same reasons as above. 3. Usb Stick This could also contain data. 4. Digital Camera may contain images or even files of any data 5. Printer Printers have their own memory now so this could contain much needed evidence. 6. Scanner May have been used to scan fraudulent documents (if there is any damage or imperfections to the glass this could show that a particular document was created with its use. 7. Mobile Phones Mobile phones have own operating system, could contain not only contacts but also images, files, and time logs etc, lots of relevant data. 8. Cds Dvds Another item that could contain lots of data. 9. PDA This like a mobile phone has its own operating system and could be used to store relevant data, contacts, time logs etc. Before any searches in drawers or anything was moved the whole area was photographed, picturing where all the above items were exactly in relation to the shop. This is done to document the evidence in a visual manner, that can be looked at after things have been moved to unsurface perhaps more clues, for example If a computer mouse was sitting on the left hand side of the desk, perhaps the manager is right handed so it could lead to a clue that perhaps a left handed member of staff uses that desk, which the computer is sitting on. Photographs were taken of the computer screen as it was on and had the user names on it, this was also documented by text. The computer felt quite warm so this could give clues as to whether it had been left on overnight or perhaps used before we had gained entry to the premises. Photographs were also taken of all the cables at the back of the computer, so as reconstructing at a later stage would be easier, also the cables were labelled. The desktop computer was then switched off by removing the power from the computer not the wall socket. The laptop was the next item to be dealt with, it was switched off so removal of the battery was next. Next a search took place which would involve looking in drawers, cupboards etc. The items I was looking for were: 1. Any paper work that may give some clues to any passwords that may have been used 2. Memory Cards 3. Credit card Skimmers 4. Address books 5. Appointment cards/books 6. GPS SAT NAV equipment 7. CCTV footage Most of these items were found lurking in and around the vicinity of the desk where the desktop computer was located, other than the CCTV footage that was located in the DVD recorder next to the kitchen door. The DVD recorder contained a DVD- rw (DVD re- writable), which was left in place until also photographed and noted while in situ. The rest of the items were subsequently photographed and logged before anything else was done. The reasons for seizing these items were as follows: 1. Paperwork passwords, contacts etc. 2. Memory Cards Data, Images 3. Credit card skimmers Evidence in itself or even more so if there is data contained on the magnetic strip. 4. Address books Contacts 5. Appointment cards/books verify evidence of suspects whereabouts 6. GPS SAT NAV Travel logs, previous places visited 7. CCTV Evidence to say who has been in the premises, and when as the camera will have its own time logs. The manger was then asked a few questions about any passwords or encryption keys he may have been aware of, this was done to try and gain any extra information regarding passwords, encryption etc, as this could all save time when it comes to imaging and gaining access to files. All the questions and answers were noted down in a methodical manner. Seizing the evidence The decision was made by myself to take the equipment, rather than live image at the suspected crime scene, as there was no network, wireless or otherwise, I felt this was the best decision to make as the imaging could be done under labatory conditions. Also as there was quite an amount of electronic data that would need to be imaged, this would take far too long and would not be efficient to do so. Although it is seen best for the raw electronic data to be accessed least as possible due to its volatile nature, this would only have to be done the once in the lab, once imaged they actual items (pc, laptop) would not need to be handled again as the image would be an exact copy. Fingerprinting would need to be done, but this could not occur until all equipment had been imaged, as the chemicals used can be destructive The laptop was known to have Bluetooth capability, and wifi so this had to be put into a shielded box, so as that it could not receive any signals from anywhere else. The mobile phone and PDA were treated in the same manner. The boxes were tagged and everything noted so as to start the chain of evidence for these items. All that had to be done now was to actually bag up all the evidence. This has to be done and sealed in anti static bags, and all written down in a methodical manner. This was done item by item individually as each item was tagged and bagged it had to be logged in a chain of evidence. This took quite a long time but this job cannot be rushed, as anything missed could be fatal to a prosecution. Next was the issue of transportation, this would need to be done strategically so as not to damage any possible data evidence. These would have to be kept away from any magnetic fields, e. g. speakers, radios etc, so they were removed with a van that had storage boxes within so as the seized equipment would not get too warm, cold, or anything else happen to them. Evaluating the Evidence This is where the real investigation continues, and where more light may be shed on the situation concerning electronic data found. Encase was used to image the hard drive of the desktop computer and laptop, and various other software was used for the acquisition of the other electronic items. Once imaged work would begin on searching labouredly through the data. To finish this investigation could take quite a few man-hours, as there is so much data to work through. Now is when this case is turned over to the other specialists that I work alongside. Conclusion Alas my work has ended now in this case as I have finished my job of searching the crime scene and seizing the evidence, after a full week of preparation before the actual search, I am quite pleased with the result. I am no clearer about any crimes that were or may have been committed, but hopefully due to myself carrying out the investigation thoroughly I have led the way for a successful prosecution to go ahead. Tracing the Rap/Hip-Hop Dichotomy in Popular and Underground Music Essa

Tracing the Rap/Hip-Hop Dichotomy in Popular and Underground Music Rap music has experienced a radical increase in popularity in the last five years. In the year 2000, rap became the second-best-selling genre in music, capturing 12.9 percent of the year's $14.3 billion in total record sales ("Rap/Hip Hop" Sc 1). Though rap is no stranger to criticism, that criticism has increased in both quantity and vociferousness at about the same rate as the number of rap albums climbing the charts. And the growing evidence that, apparently, in order to achieve commercial success, each rap album must be more negative and offensive than the last does not help to address these criticisms. Unfortunately, the critics miss most of the rarely-seen other side of the genre: Hip-hop, rap music that is true the art form's roots of black empowerment and social progress. But black empowerment and social progress don't sell nearly as many records as the themes of mistreating women, abusing substances, and accumulating vast piles of wealth, so these are the messages that rap/hip-hop has come to embody in popular perception. However, as an introductory piece on a web site called The Hip Hop Headrush clearly states: "Hip-hop is not violence, misogyny, and narcotic substances—if you believe that, then the media and commercial mainstream music buyers have you sadly confused" ("Mindless Music" Sc 1). I will attempt to flush out this rap/hip-hop dichotomy by indulging a brief history of the musical form, examining criticisms and defenses of the branch of the form I'll define as "rap," and investigating a few hip-hop groups that present thoughtful, positive worldviews rather than the sex/drugs/money/violence messages of their rap counterparts.... ... to the Mainstream: The Political Power of Hip-Hop.† Media, Culture, and Society 20.2 (1998): 219. Compare and Contrast Two Shopping Centres

Nguyen Le Thi Phuc 24/3/2013 A shopping plan Last week, I thought of a plan to go to the shopping centre with my friend who is going to visit Singapore. Both my friend and I like shopping, I wanted to take her to go shopping. But I could not make up my mind that where we would go. I had ever come to Thomson Plaza and Lucky Plaza that all of them were very nice. Then I compared the location, structure and goods of two centres that I could finally come to my decision to go Lucky Plaza.First, I considered about their location. Thomson Plaza is a shopping centre located in urban areas, in the heart of private and public residential estates at Upper Thomson Road. However, Lucky Plaza is situated in the midst of Singapore’s premier shopping district and located along the Orchard road. So both Thomson Plaza and Lucky Plaza are easy to move by any transportation. Lucky Plaza is closer the MRT Station but farer my home than Thomson Plaza.Besides, Lucky Plaza had been identified as one of the most accessible landmarks for the tourists. Second, I thought of their structures. While Thomson Plaza’s logo is an orange – gray leaf, Lucky Plaza’s logo looks like double â€Å"S† with yellow color. The appearance of Thomson Plaza looks nice and specially, and Lucky Plaza does too. Thomson Plaza has 3 floors and a basement carpark. In contrast, Lucky Plaza has 6 floors, 1 basement and a large parking lot. So there are many shops in Lucky Plaza more than Thomson Plaza. From their structures, they both buy the diverse variety of goods with many different brands. They serve quality goods, good services and sometimes they have some goods on sale with low price. Specially, Lucky Plaza has many kinds of foods, Photo studio, Bossini, Levi’s, Bata shops that we like most. On the orther hand, Thomson Plaza doesn’t have those shops. In conclusion, after taking everything into consideration, I think I made the right decision. We will have a sho pping trip in Lucky Plaza with our favourite shops.

Theodore Roosevelt And The Cuban War - 1086 Words

The most important person in American history is Theodore Roosevelt. During his life, he made a great impact on America. Roosevelt was the 26th president and fought in the Spanish-American War, also known as the Cuban War. He was the most influential person who supported the completion of construction of the Panama Canal. One of the first and most important National Parks, Theodore Roosevelt National Park in western North Dakota, was named after him too. During his presidency, he inspired many. If it was not for Theodore Roosevelt, our society would not be as advanced as it is today. Theodore was born on October 27, 1858. He was six when President Abraham Lincoln was assassinated, and he watched the funeral procession from his grandfather s house in New York City. As a child, he was sickly and weak, and suffered from dangerous asthma. Part of the 4th generation of Roosevelts in this country, his boyhood nickname was Teedie.. Teedie spent most of his free time collecting dead animals or animal skeletons trying to form a small museum he set up in a nursery with his cousins. This was around the time when he was starting to become interested in science. Zoology was his favorite science subject. He left for Europe for a few years. Bored from the traveling, Theodore decided to play with his siblings. Unfortunately he played roughly and had a few minor accidents. After awhile, he noticed it was harder for him to see. Same Sex Marriage Should be Legalized Essay example

Every little girl dreams of her wedding day, and many can even be seen dressing up, putting pillow cases on their heads and pretending that they are actually walking down that long aisle towards the one they love. As these little girls grow up, some of them, as well as some little boys . who may not play dress up, but have equal aspirations of marriage when they grow up . will be faced with the harsh reality that this illustrious day may never come to pass for them. The reason is not that they will be unable to find someone with whom they want to spend their lives, but that whom they have chosen is unacceptable to society because they happen to be of the same sex. Evidence today shows that homosexuality is not a choice,†¦show more content†¦For example, in 1968, when the law was passed, 72% of the population in the United States disapproved of interracial marriage (Sullivan XXV). In fact, hostility to same-sex marriage in 2004 is markedly less profound than hostility to interracial marriage was in 1968. Only about 60% of Americans are presently against legalizing same-sex unions, according to most polls (Sullivan XXVI). Hopefully, the U.S. government will realize that denying marriage to homosexuals is just as discriminatory as denying marriage to interracial couples in the past. In addition to the denial of civil rights, the illegality of same-sex marriage also denies a multitude of more tangible benefits to homosexual couples. According to Nancy Wilson, vice-moderator of the Universal Fellowship of Metropolitan Community Churches, there are at least 200 legal rights that heterosexual married couples receive, which are not given to homosexual couples (Clash Over Gay Marriage 1996 para 5). The estimate of the U.S. General Accounting office is more generous, stating that, more than 1,000 special benefits are automatically provided to heterosexual married couples simply because they are married. One example is that same-sex partners do not get to share in the benefits that married couples receive through the ability to file jointly on their income taxes.Show MoreRelatedShould Same-Sex Marriages Be Legalized?. Machiavelli s Machiavelli - 2270 Words

Machiavelli is often viewed as an amoralist. Is this a correct analysis of Machiavelli? Why/why not? In your answer, be clear about what you mean by ‘amoralist’. If you think he is not an amoralist, how are moral assumptions or claims evident in what he writes; and does this undermine his position? Why/why not? If you think he is an amoralist, how does this show in his text; and does this make some of his arguments or claims defective or challengeable? Why/why not? Machiavelli should not be considered an amoralist, for reasons I will be discussing hereafter. Firstly, I shall very clearly outline what I consider ‘amoralist’ to constitute. Then, I will argue that Machiavelli is not an amoralist because he is merely advocating for an effective ruler. This requires the ruler, or ‘the Prince’, to cede his presupposed moral values, and transcend the normal expectation of humanity, to an amoral existence. I argue that Machiavelli himself, is moral, in that he is encouraging how a Price should behave, in order to be an effective ruler, which achieves the greater good. The Prince, however, is amoral. Because, as Machiavelli describes it, this world is not idealistic, and politics has no room for morality to be considered. Before I consider why Machiavelli should be considered moral, I will first define what is to be understood as ‘amoral’ and ‘moral’. I will then describe the situation Machiavelli was responding to, by giving some insight as to how and why Machiavelli constructedShow MoreRelatedThe Machiavelli And Machiavelli s The Prince2348 Words   |  10 PagesI have always found great interest in the infamous Niccolo Machiavelli and his ways of thinking; my eye was drawn to him long before I knew I would be studying at Colorado State and even before I had any interest in politics. Networking Principles Essays - Scripting Languages, Variable

Networking Principles Dial-Up Scripting Command Language For Dial-Up Networking Scripting Support Copyright (c) 1995 Microsoft Corp. Table of Contents 1.0 Overview 2.0 Basic Structure of a Script 3.0 Variables 3.1 System Variables 4.0 String Literals 5.0 Expressions 6.0 Comments 7.0 Keywords 8.0 Commands 9.0 Reserved Words 1.0 Overview Many Internet service providers and online services require you to manually enter information, such as your user name and password, to establish a connection. With Scripting support for Dial-Up Networking, you can write a script to automate this process. A script is a text file that contains a series of commands, parameters, and expressions required by your Internet service provider or online service to establish the connection and use the service. You can use any text editor, such as Microsoft Notepad, to create a script file. Once you've created your script file, you can then assign it to a specific Dial-Up Networking connection by running the Dial-Up Scripting Tool. 2.0 Basic Structure of a Script A command is the basic instruction that a script file contains. Some commands require parameters that further define what the command should do. An expression is a combination of operators and arguments that create a result. Expressions can be used as values in any command. Examples of expressions include arithmetic, relational comparisons, and string concatenations. The basic form of a script for Dial-Up Networking follows: ; ; A comment begins with a semi-colon and extends to ; the end of the line. ; proc main ; A script can have any number of variables ; and commands variable declarations command block endproc A script must have a main procedure, specified by the proc keyword, and a matching endproc keyword, indicating the end of the procedure. You must declare variables before you add commands. The first command in the main procedure is executed, and then any subsequent commands are executed in the order they appear in the script. The script ends when the end of the main procedure is reached. 3.0 Variables Scripts may contain variables. Variable names must begin with a letter or an underscore ('_'), and may contain any sequence of upper- or lower-case letters, digits, and underscores. You cannot use a reserved word as a variable name. For more information, see the list of reserved words at the end of this document. You must declare variables before you use them. When you declare a variable, you must also define its type. A variable of a certain type may only contain values of that same type. The following three types of variables are supported: Type Description integer A negative or positive number, such as 7, -12, or 5698. string A series of characters enclosed in double-quotes; for example, Hello world! or Enter password:. boolean A logical boolean value of TRUE or FALSE. Variables are assigned values using the following assignment statement: variable = expression The variable gets the evaluated expression. Examples: integer count = 5 integer timeout = (4 * 3) integer i boolean bDone = FALSE string szIP = (getip 2) set ipaddr szIP 3.1 System Variables System variables are set by scripting commands or are determined by the information your enter when you set up a Dial-Up Networking connection. System variables are read-only, which means they cannot be changed within the script. The system variables are: Name Type Description $USERID String The user identification for the current connection. This variable is the value of the user name specified in the Dial-Up Networking Connect To dialog box. $PASSWORD String The password for the current connection. This variable is the value of the user name specified in the Dial-Up Networking Connect To dialog box. $SUCCESS Boolean This variable is set by certain commands to indicate whether or not the command succeeded. A script can make decisions based upon the value of this variable. $FAILURE Boolean This variable is set by certain commands to indicate whether or not the command failed. A script can make decisions based upon the value of this variable. These variables may be used wherever an expression of a similar type is used. For example, transmit $USERID is a valid command because $USERID is a variable of type string. 4.0 String Literals Scripting for Dial-Up Networking supports escape sequences and caret translations, as described below. String Literal Description ^char Caret translation If char is a value between '@' and '_', the character sequence is translated into a single-byte value between 0 and 31. For example, ^M is converted to a carriage return. If char is a value between
